Kotelnichesky Pole Impregnation Plant, JSC
The plant has been manufacturing its main product - poles for power transmission and communication lines voltage from 0.4 to 110 kV – more than 30 years. Poles are impregnated by antiseptics made according to the technical specifications of the plant and confirmed by the state certificate of conformance. “Senezh” poles length spectrum is 6.5: 7.5; 8.5; 9.5; 11 ì. During the years in poles manufacturing the plant has produced more than 900 000 c.m. of power transmission poles and 3 000 c.m. of saw-timber. High-quality wooden poles are recommended by RAO UES of Russia for cost saving and stability enhancement of 0.4 – 10 kV power transmission lines. |
HistoryKotelnichesky Pole Impregnation Plant was put into operation in June 1976. First and the main products of the plant became power transmission poles. Their yield was limited by 1 500 c.m. during the first several years of the plant operation. The products were supplied to the regions of Orenburg, Kostroma, Leningrad, Tula, Kuibyshev, Perm, Kirov, Gorkiy, Ivanovo, Yaroslavl, to Dagestan and Udmurtia republics, etc. The year 1984 has become a record year in the plant’s history – the yield of power transmission poles reached 64 000 c.m. In 1992, according to the President’s decree, Kotelnichesky Pole Impregnation Plant has got its new name – JSC Kotelnichesky Pole Impregnation Plant, associated company of JSC «Vyatka-Izh-Kama-Selelectrosetstroy”. The plant has joined Holding Company Promindustria in 2002. The plant has won the title of “The Leader of Regional Economics”, nomination “Application of the current technologies to production” in 2002, as a result of competition organized by International Academy of Real Economics. |
The advantages of wooden power transmission poles application:
- High-quality wooden poles are recommended by RAO UES of Russia for cost saving and stability enhancement of 0.4 – 10 kV power transmission lines. Their lifetime is up to 45 years, which is 20 years more than the lifetime of ferroconcrete items.
- Wooden poles can be used effectively for power lines in the regions of seismic activity such as mountain regions of Russia and Caucasia.
- Wooden poles are lighter than ferroconcrete items, which results in transportation and mounting cost saving.
- High insulation properties of wood allow to decrease the number of insulators at 35-110 kV lines.
- Wooden power transmission poles are 40% cheaper than ferroconcrete ones. Wooden poles work in bending well and can withstand severe wind and icy conditions.
- “Domino effect” does not happen if one of the poles falls, because damaged pole can be held by wires. This facilitates repair work.
- Manufactured according to proper production methods, modern wooden poles prove to be more durable than ferroconcrete ones.

Now the plant supplies the products to the Northern-Caucasian, Volgo-Vyatskiy and the Central regions, to Ural and the regions of Oreng\burg and Kostroma. Contracts signed for products supply to Azerbaidzhan and Turkmenia. The quality of poles produced by Kotelnichesky Pole Impregnation Plant meets all the requirements of foreign customers. That is why the companies of Turkey, Iran and India are interested in the supplies of poles for operation in the tropics and the regions of high seismic activity. | |
